During the month-long May Festival of the Arts, Iris at the Basin Park Gallery, at 8 Spring Street, will host the 9th Annual High School Art Exhibit presenting the work of high school art students from Berryville, AR and Eureka Springs, AR. This 9th year of the events will benefit Heifer International.
The art students’ inspiration comes from Heifer International’s goal of our global communities working together to end hunger and poverty and to care for the Earth. Their teachers, Sara Russell, Berryville High School and Jessica Cummings, Eureka Springs High School challenged them to examine the true meaning of community.
The students have created bowls (vessels) symbolizing the simple idea of giving families a source of food enabling them to create a sustaining environment rather than short-term relief solutions. The students gained valuable lessons on sharing animals, resources, and skills with global communities in need. The proceeds of the sale of these vessels will be donated to Heifer International.
There will be a reception for the artists on Thursday, May 6th from 6-8 PM. The public is invited. The art will be on display during the month-long May Festival of the Arts. Please visit the Iris at the Basin Park at 8 Spring Street and see how art education in our schools has impacted these young artists.
