Professional photographer, Susan Storch will lead this photography walk in historic Eureka Springs, My Secret Eureka, beginning at the Crescent Hotel and ending at the downtown trolley depot, will be an event of May Festival of the Arts on May 6th from 4-7 p.m.

Participants will photograph details along the way that will include gargoyles, fences, and florets. $15 with proceeds going to The Arts Council. Native American flute artist, John Two Hawks, will present his Annual Mother’s Day concert at the Aud on Sunday May 8, 2011 at 2:00 pm

Tickets are $12 at the Aud or may be purchased in advance on Two Hawks website.

The 6th Annual ‘Art as Prayer’ Exhibit will be held at Studio 62 Gallery, 335 W. Van Buren, throughout the month during May Festival of the Arts 2011.

This free, multi-artists exhibition presents works in several media depicting prayer.

The “Bank On Art Show” will display the works of more than 40 local fine artists during the month long May Festival of the Arts celebration. A variety of two and three dimensional work will be exhibited for the entire month. The free exhibit can be seen by the public Monday through Friday during regular business hours at Arvest Bank, Community First Bank, and Cornerstone Bank.

The monthly Poet Luck at Writers’ Colony will be held on Thursday, May 19th – This potluck dinner and literary salon is open to the public and held the third Thursday of every month, March-October at The Writers’ Colony at Dairy Hollow in Eureka Springs.

“Poetluck” brings together established visiting poets and writers with local poets and writers, aspiring writers, and all those interested in the creative process. Bring a dish or beverage to share, and a receptive, interested mind. The evenings combine conviviality, craft, and critique. Topical content may make this event suitable for ages 14 and above.

Potluck begins at 6 p.m.- Join us to share dinner, listen to the resident writers for 20 minutes, and then share your own work for up to four minutes. followed by readings of writers in residence and locals and visitors who would like to share a 4 minute read.

First Presbyterian – 125th Anniversary Celebration

First Presbyterian Church, Eureka Springs ARThe First Presbyterian Church will host its 125th Anniversary Celebration at 209 Spring Street in Eureka Springs. An Open house, entertainment and refreshments will be offered from 2pm-5pm on May 15th, 2011.

The Church was built in 1886 of the same limestone as the Crescent Hotel. The congregation was organized early in town history – 1882 – but met in a big tent for the first year. The original tall wooden bell tower has being restored. The church’s manse is across the street.

Enthios Art Venue will be the setting for a one-woman bravura performance during May Festival of the Arts in Eureka Springs.

“Do you know that every one of you is, to me, a poem?” (Emily Dickinson)

Belle of Amherst One-woman playBased on the life of Emily Dickinson from 1830-1886, the The Belle of Amherst (written by William Luce) makes use of Dickinson’s poetry, diaries and letters to recollect her encounters with significant people in her life.

The Belle of Amherst ran on Broadway in 1976, when it won a Tony award for Julie Harris.

This special presentation, performed by Eureka Springs actress Laurel Owen, and directed by Marvin Jonason, is a production of Renaissance 1 and will be presented for 3 showings:

“Shrine On!,” a collection of shrines created by Eureka Springs artists Dee Garrett, John Rankine, and Ralph “Mr. Shrine” Wilson and Fayetteville artist Susan Shore, will be on display in the Main Stage Creative Community Center lobby through May 29 as part of May Festival of the Arts. An opening reception for the artists will be held Friday evening, May 13, from 6 to 9.

“Mr. Shrine” and several local artists will create an outdoor “Love & Peace” shrine Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to noon on the north wall of the Main Stage building. The public is invited to add to the shrine throughout the month of May. “Shrine On!” will be open Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Main Stage Creative Community Center is located at 67 North Main in downtown Eureka Springs.
