The Eureka Springs Gallery Association is very excited about the local May Festival of the Arts. While every day is a festival of the arts in the area’s 30+ galleries, the  nine Association galleries celebrate this annual city-wide event by having weekly Strolls with special events EVERY Saturday in May.

Well-known as an art destination, the city has people who visit on a regular basis from all over the world. Every medium imaginable is represented by these amazing galleries. During May, gallery shows will include blown and fused glass, sculpture, photography, paintings and prints, fine jewelry, pottery. Additionally, this year’s theme show, entitled Widgets, Gizmos & Doohickeys!, will feature 30 area artists letting loose their creativity with only size being a parameter for their imagination.

Studio 62 in Eureka Springs is hosting the 5th Annual Art as Prayer Exhibition–an invitational month-long show coinciding with the Eureka Springs May Festival of the Arts and the National Day of Prayer, all occurring during the month of May. The artists’ reception will be held at Studio 62 Eureka Springs on Friday May 7, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This is a very popular and eclectic show—presenting the theme in a wide range of artistic interpretations by artists of various faiths. The scope of previous works has included prophetic art, biblical paintings, three dimensional shrines, traditional figurative paintings, photographs, and found-art sculptures.

Featured artists for 2010 are Ron Lutz, Jody Stephenson, John Willer, Susan DeRosa, Tim Adams, Ron Morrison, Holly Ertel, Denise Ryan, and others.

Jody Stephenson will be unveiling her new series of prophetic paintings and featuring her book Faltering Towards Perfection: Art, Faith, and Everything In Between.
